Welcome to Pixida Films, we are a female and migrant-led collective navigating stories of migration through film.
Our mission is to promote and celebrate stories of migration in order to create new solidarities across borders. We believe that by creatively connecting with each other, we are creating a safe and inclusive space which challenges the narrow rhetorics that stigmatise people with lived experiences of migration. We are dedicated to a visually inclusive world.

The word Pixida, meaning compass in Greek, highlights how film can be used as a medium of art to explore cultural hybridities and exchanges in migration. It also echoes our collective’s multiple homes as we are operating in both Greece and the United Kingdom.

Pixida Films is an initiative that was born out of Refugee Week Greece, a cultural festival belonging to the Refugee Week global movement that celebrates the creativity and stories of people on the move. As part of the core programme of the festival in 2023, our team curated and produced 'Compass Films', a programme of 8 screenings on stories of migration. Inspired by this work, we decided to launch our own international platform and established Pixida Films.
